We need your help to serve low income Spanish speakers in the Metro Area!
What:
Provide telephone legal advice and/or in-person brief services to Spanish-speaking clients. On Tuesdays (2:00 – 4:00 p.m.) and Thursdays (4:00 – 6:00 p.m.), attorneys receive information at their office about clients’ situation, demographics, and legal issue and call the client back to give legal advice. On Thursdays, attorneys meet with clients and provide legal advice and/or brief services in person at St. Paul CLUES (797 E 7th St., St. Paul) between 10:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Minneapolis CLUES (720 E. Lake St, Minneapolis) between 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Clients are instructed to bring their paperwork with them. Attorneys receive in advance details about the client’s question and situation.
Time Commitment:
Three hours per month.
Resources:
Resources, links, and referral options are provided to volunteer attorneys.
Why We Need Your Help:
Those who aren't able to speak English well often have even more difficulty accessing the court system and the protection of the laws than others. Volunteering at this clinic will provide much needed access to justice to a population that often goes without.
